Position Summary
Nelson University American Indian College seeks a dedicated and organized Student Development Coordinator to support the Office of Student Development. This role plays a vital part in enhancing student success by managing daily administrative operations, curating engaging social media content, and maintaining our online presence. As a key team member, you will contribute to fostering a supportive environment that honors our mission, students, faculty, and staff.
This part-time position offers flexibility in scheduling to accommodate work-life balance, making it ideal for individuals passionate about higher education and community impact.
Major Responsibilities
· Administrative Support: Handle routine office tasks including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, preparing correspondence, filing documents, and coordinating travel arrangements for the Vice President and team.
· Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing student development events, workshops, and cultural programs, including logistics, registrations, and follow-up communications.
· Social Media Management: Create and schedule compelling social media posts across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X) to highlight student achievements, campus events, and cultural initiatives; monitor engagement and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
· Website Maintenance: Update and manage content on the Student Development section of the university website, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with branding guidelines; collaborate with IT as needed for technical support.
· General Duties: Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and external partners; support special projects as assigned; and promote a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Required:
· Must be an openly committed Born Again Christian, living a Spirit-filled life.
· Associate's degree or equivalent experience in administration, communications, or a related field.
· Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative or office support experience.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace.
· Basic knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Hootsuite).
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a sense of humor!
Preferred:
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
· Experience in higher education or non-profit settings.
· Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
· Knowledge of graphic design basics for social media visuals.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
