Position Overview
The Director for Learning Management Systems (LMS) provides leadership in leveraging technology for effective teaching and learning. This role supports faculty, course designers, and I.T. staff while guiding the university’s transition of undergraduate online courses to an 8-week format. Responsibilities include overseeing LMS course shells, managing integrations, supporting faculty training, and coordinating technology upgrades. The Faculty Support Director oversees two course designers and reports directly to this position. Experience as faculty is preferred, ensuring an understanding of the teaching perspective.

Major Responsibilities
LMS Administration & Data Management
· Lead and maintain the SIS–LMS integration to ensure smooth operation of courses, users, and enrollments.
· Oversee permissions, data access, and day-to-day LMS administration.
· Manage student and faculty accounts, courses, organizations, and enrollments in adopted LMS- Blackboard
· Monitor LMS data, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
Faculty & Instructional Support
· Partner with course designers and faculty on effective course design, development and delivery.
· Work with the Faculty Support Director and team to provide faculty with tools, training, and guidance.
· Develop instructional projects, training materials, and online course components.
Collaboration & Technology Innovation
· Collaborate with IT to coordinate system updates and technology upgrades.
· Stay engaged with industry groups to introduce new features and best practices.
Leadership & Communications
· Collaborate with Academic Services initiatives and special projects.
· Support campus-wide communications, including emergency messaging systems.
Team Qualifications
· Ensure privacy of educational records and departmental information through secure practices, proper training, and established procedures.
· Deliver guest services with courtesy, efficiency, and consistency in an organized, interactive environment supported by training and procedures.
Departmental Qualifications:
· Master’s Degree Required
· Experience as faculty strongly preferred
· High level of organizational, technical, and communication skills
· Strong initiative, adaptability, and team orientation
· Ability to multi-task and work across departments
· Proficiency with business productivity applications such as Microsoft Office, G Suite, etc.
· Technical skills, including coding and SQL/database query experience
· Ability to protect the privacy of educational records
· Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
· Commitment to serving faculty, staff, students, and the public with professionalism and courtesy
